Doulas support partners too.
If you want your partner to step up, that person needs to be educated and supported as much as you, so that they may also stand in their power as your best intimate advocate.

You can't pour from an empty cup.
A cautionary tale from a Mom who did it all and hit a wall.

What is a postpartum plan and why is it so important to have one?
It’s true that it takes a village to raise a child, and it also takes a village to take care of a new parent. There is value in being the leader of your village, in knowing your situation, anticipating your needs and being specific with your loved ones on how they can support you in a genuine way. The postpartum period is a sacred one, and with some planning, it can be restful and restorative as it should be.

Early labor support, in the comfort of your home…
Going to the hospital “too early” is very common for first-timers, and also, completely normal. How a global pandmeic made me a better doula.
The day that doulas were banned from hospitals, one of my clients went into labor. Missing a birth was not a scenario that I was prepared for. Doulas show up, it’s what we do, no matter what.

Can’t stop, won’t stop - Doula life in the eye of a crisis.
If I read the words “pivot your business” one more time, God help me.

When the fit hits the shan… The value of doulas in times of uncertainty
In the face of adversity, I see doulas doing what we do best, adapting to situations as they arise, and providing unwavering support to our clients.

Feed the freezer, thank me later.
Did you know that a well stocked freezer can be one of your best allies in the postpartum period?
Here’s the thing- The laundry and dishes can wait, the floors can be left unswept for an extra day (or four!) , the beds don’t need to be made; but no matter what, you will always need to eat.

Transformation happens outside of your comfort zone, and that’s OK.
No matter how you prepared for your birth; how many books you read, videos you watched, meditations you did, there is some point in labor where you are going to have some “what the (fill in the blank with your choice of curse word here)” moments.
